In fact, Addilyn is the couple’s adopted child. They adopted her in 2018 when she was four days old.
Remembering the day, Tyler said in an interview in 2020,
Two years ago, when I applied at Yale, we were foster parents in Texas of a little girl who had lived in our home since she was four days old. Her parents were getting ready to take her home when I heard from Yale that I got in—that was March 15, 2018. So my wife and I started planning this move, and two days later, we were told the foster parents were [instead] terminating their parents’ rights, and did we want to adopt her?
Both Tyler and Andrea didn’t hesitate in their decision to adopt Addilyn. As of now, the family of four resides in Hamden, Connecticut.
