Brooks had been trying to be a part of Jeopardy! for a long time now. A childhood fan of the show, he always sat in front of the TV at exactly 7:30 pm to see how contestants tested their trivia skills.

Matt first tried out for the show around 20 years ago. Eventually, he took a 50-question online test in 2019.
After passing the initial test, he was called for an interview in 2022. The filming of the show was then held in May 2024 in Culver City, California on the occasion of Mother’s Day.
